Well One month old hey! What a month it was. We bought you home after a few days in hospital. I was so excited to come home with you because we could be with daddy at night and also because i have NO sleep for 5 days being in the hospital. I was utterly exhausted. Daddy and Nanna came up to get us packed up and out to the car. We had to get the all ok from your pediatrician and from the nurses who were looking after me. The only thing that we found was that your feet were curled in because you had no room in the womb and we just have to massage them so they go out. (which they did) and i noticed you had a tongue tie. I think your mum should be a pediatrician because i found that not the lady lol. Apparently you shouldn't have been able to breast feed with the degree of tongue tie but you ate like a little champion. :-)
We were on our way. Balloons, pressies, bags and baby. I think once we got your into your car seat we we knew we had to get your a little head support so for the mean time we used some of your wraps. I think daddy drove at like 5km an hour home hehehhee. Precious Cargo we had.
We got you home and Nanna took some photos of us outside your new home. I honestly dont remember what we did that day it was a bit of a blur but i remember the first night specifically. You screamed nearly all night lol. Nothing we could do would settle you and we of course had no idea what to do. I was determined to not call the hospital for advice but pride was demolished and I did. She told me to bath you that a bath on your belly might help if its gas and can relax babies. We realised we had NO idea how to do that hahaha we were both so tired and trying to bath you and you HATED it. I think because i was so long in the hospital they thought we had been shown. How hard seriously can bathing a baby be. Well on no sleep and having a little slippery skinned wet baby on our hands not as easy as we thought. Mary came to show us and gave you your first real bath and you now LOVE the bath. I was trying to work out who would be awake early in the morning to come help or show us before we both lost it in pure exhaustion and Aunty Tam had to drop Wy to the station so she came to the rescue. We finally got this parenting thing down pat and started to get into some sort of a routine after that first night. Sleeping was rare but i had an amazing man next to me who would wake up and help me every feed. Id feed you and daddy would burp you. He has the magic touch getting you to sleep to. His chest puts me to sleep quickly so im not surprised you liked that place too.
We both tried to get into reality as soon as we could. Doing little trips to the mall because it was way too hot outside and you didnt cope with the heat at all being such a newborn bub. We went to visit Boof and Uncle Dot at Terrigal for lunch. Your first trip to the beach. I went to coles on my own between feeds and that is still my little trip on my own that i love :) You are such an easy going baby. You have your dads temperament i think. The first day your daddy went back to work i was a bit scared being on my own thinking i couldnt do it but we survived the day and i soon came to realise just you and me and our little routine during the day was great. When daddy was home you never got put down so when he went back to work i had to once again get you back to going to sleep without being held all the time. *hope you one day realise just how much he loves you* your his little man. Dads sidekick i think.
Your first Thanksgiving with the Americans from Church. (You were born the day after Thankgiving here but when we told your Mimi and Papa you had been born it was still Thanksgiving in Florida :-) ) Boy did mum love the food.
Christmas was just around your 4 week birthday. We decided that we still wanted to do a few things with you this year even though people thought we were crazy. We still went Christmas light looking on Christmas Eve (even if it was only one house lol - its tradition) We went to Carols at Bluetounge Stadium with all the family and Uncle Dans parents too. You slept through the WHOLE THING. Which was good because i was little nervous about how you would go.
Nanna, Boof and Ma came over on Christmas morning for breakfast and to open a few pressies with you. We usually dont see anyone from my side of the family Christmas Day because they all go to their spouce/partners family christmas. We had pancakes and Nanna and Boof had bought you some pressies.
We skyped Mimi, Papa, Aunty Tiff, Uncle Dan, Aunty Ang and Noah. They were all together in Florida for Christmas this year. We saw them open their pressies and we opened a few here too. Skype is the best being in the international family that we are. Mimi and Papa got you a little book about some disney characters and a orlando magic blanket. Aunty Tiff made you a fun ornament for our tree with your birth date weight and details on it. She also sent you a pair of Noahs jeans he wore around your age. I love the "cousinhood of the travelling clothes"
We went for Christmas Lunch at Aunty Tam and Uncle Wys place. Tam is an amazing cook and it was a feast. You will get to know this of her. Nothing is done unless its beyond amazing. They got you a fun tool kit (just like Boofs) toys and a cookie monster toy (her nickname for you since you were in the womb was cookie man - she guessed boy all along)
Boxing Day is at Nanna and Boofs and you again were spoiled by the fam. You once again slept through all of it but Nanna had made it so special for your first Christmas. We cant wait to start little family traditions with you as your grow up around this time of year.
